Bungartz H4, first series, 500 machines built during 1953 and 1954 (serial nrs. 1 - 500). Power source was either a TWN (=German Triumph) GeMo 200 or GeMo 201B, the latter having a governor driven by the amount of air sucked into the carburettor. Both 5 hp two stroke petrol engines.
Bungartz H4, second series, 25 machines built during 1954 (serial nrs. 501 - 525). Sachs Stamo 200 engine, 5 hp two stroke petrol without a governor. I had one of these in my collection, and know of one more in southern Netherlands, as well as one located at a collector in Austria. This model can be determined by the distinct, bulb-type air inlet to the carburettor.
Bungartz H4, third series, 775 machines built during 1954 and 1955 (serial nrs. 526 - 1300). The Sachs Stamo 200 engine was the first which was standard fitted with a governor, which all later models featured as well. Bungartz H4, fourth series, at least 655 machines built in 1956 (serial nrs. 1301 - ? (highest known nr. 1955)). First H4 fitted with the wider quick-action coupling for attachments, which was also used on all later models of this size (H5, FRN, FRK, FRNK, FK, F6).
