First version of the Bungartz & Peschke Kommutrac in 1970, model 8501. Powered by a 4 cylinder petrol Volkswagen Industriemotor 124A, it was rated at 40 hp. The seat could be turned 180 degrees, and the steering wheel be moved to the back, so that the Kommutrac could be used driving 'forward' as well as 'backward'.

The Bungartz Kommutrac was built from 1970 till 1974 by Bungartz&Peschke KG in Hornbach. After Bungartz's end the Kommutrac was manufactured for some time longer by both Karl Peschke KG in Zweibrücken and Gutbrod Werke GmbH in Saarbrücken-Bübingen (Kommutrac 45).

The Kommutrac was available with a wide range of attachments, here are some examples:

Gutbrod continued the development of the Bungartz tractors. One result was this 1976 Gutbrod Kommutrac 34 (or 34A with 4 wheel drive). The twoseater was powered by a 34 hp water cooled 4 cylinder 4 stroke petrol engine, and had 8 forward and 2 reverse speeds with a maximum of 33 km/h. It no longer was a narrow track tractor, with it's width of 1,43 m.
