Oversight of Bungartz walk behind tractors -- prewar models, built from 1934 till 1950 by Bungartz in München, Germany
Bungartz K5. 6 hp Siemens/Bungartz engine, 2 stroke petrol, 1500 rpm, built from 1934-ca. 1937. Working width is 70 cm. Bungartz made some changes to the original Siemens K5, like wheel clutches on both wheel axles for easier manouvering (possible Siemens-design), operated from the wheel hubs (see picture), and a support to facilitate cleaning of the tiller.
Bungartz F70 (from 1939) or K6. 6 hp Siemens/Bungartz engine, 2 stroke petrol, 1500 rpm,
built from 1937-ca. 1942. Working width is 70 cm.
The carburettor was a SUM K 12/23. The early machines still had the Siemens-style clutch handle, on the later K6 it was operated by a Bowden cable. And that later K6 had an aluminium gearbox and cooler stand, instead of the heavy cast iron on the older models. The steering clutches were no longer operated from the wheel hubs, but by handles on the steering bars (see picture).
Bungartz H2, 2.25 hp Sachs Stamo 6 petrol engine, 2 stroke, 3000 rpm, introduced in 1938.
This Bungartz machine is shown in a Belgian leaflet and is assigned Bungartz B4-40. The location of the fuel tank is different from the normal L3 model. It makes one think of the SIMAR C2 tiller which was imported to Germany by Siemens, when they did not make such small tillers theirselves.
This seems to be an early Bungartz L3. The first 125 machines, numbers 2001 till 2125, had the fuel tank fitted on the steering handle.
Bungartz L3, 4.5 hp DKW EL201 petrol engine, 2 stroke, 3000 rpm. Working width is 40 cm. From the 126th machine (number 2126), the fuel tank was fitted above the engine.
2000 Bungartz L3 were made, only a few are known to have survived today.
Bungartz L4 or F55, 6 hp DKW EL301 petrol engine, 2 stroke, 3000 rpm,
built from 1938. Working width is 55 cm.
Bungartz F90, 8.5 hp DKW EL461 engine, two stroke petrol, 3000 rpm, built from 1939-1946. The transmission was a development from the old Siemensfräse, extended with steering clutches. The early machines still had the Siemens-style clutch handle, later it was operated by a Bowden cable.
Bungartz F90, 10.5 hp Ilo E400 engine, two stroke petrol, 3000 rpm, built from 1944-1950. The latest model had a reverse gear added between engine and gearbox.
Charlie Moore aquired this Bungartz K5 (without numbers), and plans to plough with it on tractor shows.
